About

Born in Pisa, Italy, Matthew moved to New England when he was two. He began playing violin and guitar while still quite young, and gravitated towards classical guitar in his early teens. His early influences included English folk master John Renbourn, American violinist Mark O’Connor, and Spanish flamenco master Sabicas.

Matthew studied classical guitar at the University of New Hampshire under the guidance of Professor Chris Kane, where he was a member of the University of New Hampshire Classical Guitar Ensemble. He was a regular performer at The Red Onion in Durham and also performed at various University and charity events, both solo and as a duo with a variety of other student musicians. He graduated summa cum laude from UNH in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Performance.

With an extensive repertoire of both classical and popular music, Matthew has the ability to tailor music to your individual needs.

Whether you’re looking for a musician to perform that special piece of music during your wedding ceremony, or you’re looking for someone who can set just the right mood during cocktails or dinner, Matthew will work with you to bring it all together.

In addition to his classical repertoire and his love of other musical genres, Matthew is particularly adept at arranging popular music for solo classical guitar.

Matthew has performed regularly at many events and venues in New England, including events produced by New Hampshire Magazine, both private and public events at Wentworth by the Sea, and many weddings and events at the Stageneck Inn and other area venues. He has often been asked back to perform at his alma mater, The University of New Hampshire. Regardless of the size or venue, Matthew will work with you to make your occasion special.
